PALM SPRINGS

Palm Springs has long been considered California’s ultimate desert playground for the gay and lesbian traveler. Nestled at the base of the Mount San Jacinto Mountains, Palm Springs is known for its crystal blue skies, year-round sunshine, stunning landscape, palm tree lined streets and starry nights. It’s a vibrant village with an urban sensibility, dotted with a wonderful assortment of fashion boutiques, retro and mid-century modern home furnishings, art galleries, theaters and museums.

Filled with a world of entertainment, from intimate venues to large dance clubs, from outdoor cafes, gay-owned bistros and restaurants to world-renowned LGBT events. It’s as if this whole city, this whole playground, was built just for you. Visitors from all over the globe are lured to Palm Springs for its storied Hollywood legacy, its Native American heritage and its absolutely stellar collection of mid-century modern architecture. Soar to the top of Mount San Jacinto on the world famous Palm Springs Aerial Tramway or try your luck in one of our exciting Vegas-style casinos.

So, whether you’re hiking scenic trails in our majestic mountains, touring celebrity and mid-century modern homes or simply relaxing by a sparkling pool, it all adds up to a diverse and vibrant scene of year round “fun in the sun”.

Modernism Week, the only such event in the country, is an exciting 11-day celebration of mid-century modern design, architecture and culture. This design aesthetic, originated in the 1950s and 60s, was typified by clean, simple lines and celebrated elegant informality which came to define desert modernism.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, World’s Largest Rotating Tramcar, you will experience a breathtaking journey up the sheer cliffs of Chino Canyon. Begin the 10 minute ride at the Valley Station – elevation 2,643 ft. and end at the Mountain Station – elevation 8,516 ft. No matter what the season, whether you are enjoying spectacular views or hiking in a pristine wilderness, a one-of-a-kind experience can be had by all.
